It's all in the Genes
On May 5th we had an appointment down at PCMC's Department of Health for a genetic consult. We left Tuesday at two, and didn't get to the time share we were staying at in Midway until after 9! It was a LONG ride with a little boy who did not want to be in his carseat anymore! We did stop in Park City and went to the outlet mall there and grabbed us some dinner! By the time we got to our room Asher was beyond done for the day and spent about 45 minutes crawling from Jason to me on the bed and attacking his toy duck, it was so funny and way cute! Then Wednesday we had his appointment at 10:00AM. We got there at 9:30 and didn't leave until after 12:00! It was a really long appoinment and we didn't really learn anything! His doctor said that there wasn't any syndrome that he knew of that had all of the different things that Asher had, so the only test they could run was one that basically checked every one of his genes to make sure that he got one from me and one from Jason. But he said that his developement is on track so that is really encouraging to him, and he didn't think that we need to do that test now. He said he wanted to see him back when he's two. We also asked him about the probability of us having more kids with the same things wrong. He said that basically anyone has about a 3-5% chance of getting any one thing that he has wrong, so for him to have them all is even rarer. He also said that if/when we have more kids, he would be interested in comparing them to each other. Oh and part of the reason it was such a long appointment is because his doctor wanted another doctor there to look at his foot and back because he's more into the skin things than his doctor was. But that was about all we learned. And I didn't take a single picture the entire trip! Oops! But at least we didn't get bad news!

It's not a total waste of time. Some relief is better than nothing, right? I'm so glad Asher is developing well. He sure seems to be a happy little guy. Mom and I will be up this weekend. We'd love to see you!
