Softball

This summer Jason has been playing in a Softball league with the some of the guys that he works with. It is his first time really playing Softball he has really only played baseball. It took him a while to get use to the bigger ball and such, but he has really had fun playing. Last night was his last game. They were ahead the ENTIRE game, and ended up losing by ONE in the final inning, but it was still a good game.

These aren't all from last night's game. They are actually from about three different games. Sorry the chain-link fence is in most of the pictures, but it was really hard to get around without the threat of being hit by a ball.

Jason waiting to come home.

If you look really close you can see I almost got the exact moment that the bat and ball meet...
Almost. :)

Waiting on second.

Last night's game I braved it and went beyond the fence. Now if only the sun wasn't right behind him.

Getting instructions from the first base coach.
Jason also played mostly in the out field but it's really hard to get a good picture of that. They are all just of him standing out there not doing anything, and they are really far away.

Sold!

Last Thursday Jason sold his old bike. One of the coaches at Qwest bought it from him. It was sad to see it go,:( but at least now it will be used as opposed to just sitting in our garage. Good buy little bike, have fun at your new home!

You were a good little bike!

Doctor's appointments

Last Wednesday we had our routine check up down at Primary Children's. It was a very quick appointment which was nice. They did the ultrasound and echo of his heart like always, then we got to talk to the doctor. The doctor was the same one that we saw last time ( we really like him, actually we've all the doctor's down there). He told us that he had done some research since our last visit since he has never heard of it before and it's not very common. He told us that basically what he found out is that in all of the cases he found, if the baby can make it through the pregnancy, after it is no longer connected to the placenta the vein goes away like it is supposed to and the baby doesn't need surgery. They still would rather us have him down there so they can monitor him, and make sure his other problems, like his leaky valve, are getting better, but basically it was really good news. He said the ones that don't make it are the ones, who while still in the uterus, get hydrops, or that basically their heart just can't take the extra amount of blood. But he said that they are monitoring him very closely on that aspect and that his heart is handling the extra blood very well. So now we don't have to go back down again until August 4th. It is going to be a nice break from our every other week drive, plus, as of now, I don't have one single appointment that whole week! We are getting very tired of appointments. Then this last Wednesday we had an appointment with the perinatologist at EIRMC. He basically did the same thing, an ultrasound with measurements. They said his heart size hasn't gotten any bigger in relevance to his chest, and that he weighs 4lbs 7oz. They also said that I am borderline on being too high with the amount of amniotic fluid, but that for now they are just going to keep on eye on it. But it does explain why my stomach is so tender, and why I get shortness of breath from doing nothing occasionally, they are symptoms of having too much fluid. Well I can honestly say that I am learning a lot through this pregnancy, and that if I ever have a "normal" one, Jason and I probably won't know what to do!

Family filled Weekend

Last week we had a very family filled weekend. It started on Wednesday when my brother Krey, his wife and two kids flew in from California for my Grandmother's funeral. They got here in the afternoon but because we had a doctors appointment in Salt Lake that day, we didn't get to see them or meet their newest member, Traecen, until the viewing that evening. It was fun to get to see them but it would have been better under different circumstances. It was also nice to get to see some of my cousins who I don't get to very often, because they live so far away. Then Thursday was the funeral. It was a very nice service and my cousins, and brothers all did a great job with their talks, Grandma would have been proud. After going to the cemetery and having the dedicatory prayer we went back to the church and visited some more with family over lunch provided by my parent's ward. Then my family went back to my parent house and visited for a couple more hours before me and Jason headed home to pack for our trip to Bear Lake. We had originally planned on staying down in Utah after our doctor's appointment on Wednesday, but then we had the funeral so we came back for that. Bear Lake was a lot of fun. We got there at about 2:00 and just hung out at the beach 'till about 4:00 when we could check into the time share. That night we went to the pool, ate, played games, and just visited. The next day it was back to the beach again! I actually got most of the way in the water on Saturday as apposed to Friday when all I did was wade in. We spent most of the day either hanging out on the beach or in the water. Then we went back to the time share for dinner (it was Jason's sister, Mindy's birthday!). After dinner Jason and I got back in our car and headed home. Since my brother and his wife were here they decided to bless their baby on Sunday. We were going to just leave our dogs out at my parents house for the night and get them the next day at the blessing but as we were about home Jason said, "Do you think your parents are still up?" I said that they might be and why he was asking. He said "Because I want my dogs." So I called my mom and she was still up so we went out and picked them up before finally going home and to bed. The blessing was very beautiful, and afterwards we had a BBQ at my parents house. We didn't stay too long because we were both very tired from a long and emotional weekend. But it was good to see all of our family and we did have some fun!

Fourth of July!

JULY 3RD
On Friday the third Jason's family had a family reunion, since his aunt's and uncle's were all coming for the fourth. It was supposed to be at a park but we got rained out and had to move to Grandma and Grandpa Jorgensen's house. It was great to see everyone and spend some time with them. We had way too much good food and they also had family pictures taken since everyone (minus Jason's sister's husband) was there.

JULY 4TH

Then on the fourth Jason was supposed to go help one of his friend's move in the morning. He had actually already left when I got the phone call that my grandma had passed away (see post below). He is such a sweetheart and even though I had told him he didn't need to come home, he did anyway. That afternoon was actually my family reunion for every from my grandma and grandpa down. We still had the reunion, and it was nice to be around so many people who were going through what you were. (Don't worry the reunion was not as depressing as it sounds, we still did what we would normally do at any other reunion, it just was a little more somber) We left the reunion at about four and head over to Menan Day's. We walked around a little bit and talked with some friends before heading back home to get the dogs and go to the Green Belt. Every other year our dogs have been perfectly fine with fireworks. They love being at the Green Belt and seeing all the people, especially the kids, and when the fire works start they would just go to sleep. But this year at Birch Creek my dad was showing us his new pistol, and he shot it and let Jason shoot it. Well they were taking turns holding the dogs while they were doing this, and Shanyce got really scared and actually pulled out of her collar and came running to me. We didn't think much of it until fireworks started going off and she would either run and hide or come and cuddle. But she does a lot better if she is with someone rather than alone so we took her this year anyway. We staked out our spot and went for a walk before the fireworks started. We saw my friend Sam and her husband Derek and visited for a while before heading to get some kettle corn and going back to our spot. When the fireworks started Shanyce hid under the blanket and after some shaking finally fell asleep for almost all of the fireworks, and Oso just laid next to us and watched them. I love the fourth of July and am very glad to be living in this country!
(P.S. we made it home in less than ten minutes, yea for us!)

Shanyce "cuddling" while some people were lighting fireworks, aka shaking and trying to hide her head.

Oso trying to convince us that he needed a treat.

I know this picture is really blurry, but I thought it was fun.

This pretty much sums up how Jason feels about me dragging him everywhere on the fourth. I love being around all the people, he would rather watch the fireworks on TV.

Us right before the fireworks started.

Grandma Berrett

In the morning on the fourth of July my Grandma Berrett passed away. She was 97 years old. She is going to be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful women, and a great grandmother (in more ways than one). One of my favorite memories of my grandma was when I was little and I would stay at her house we would always go into her bedroom and look at all of her jewelry, (she had a lot of jewelry). We would go through and pick out which ones were our favorites and try some of it on to see how we looked. She also had a big tin full of buttons that she collected that we would go through last to see what "pretty" ones we could find, and how many of a certain button we could find. It was one of my most favorite memories of my grandma. I loved that no matter what she was doing when I got there, that she would take the time to do something so simple with me. I also was very lucky and got to live my grandma for about five years when she came to live with my parents when I was a freshman. Those are some times that I will cherish forever. I could go on and on but I'm getting teary eyed so I'd better stop there. I know she is in a better place and that she is finally with her husband and daughter like she has wanted for so long. I love you grandma and will miss you dearly.

I have another picture somewhere that I really wanted to put on here but I'm not finding it. It was of Grandma and Shanyce. She loved dogs so much, so sometimes when I would go and visit her I would take Shanyce in so she could see her. (Oso was too big). But in the picture she is sitting in her wheelchair and is hugging Shanyce. It's very cute, and I hope I find it soon.

CAMPING!

WARNING: LOTS OF PICTURES!
This last weekend Jason and I decided to go camping. We were going to go Father's Day weekend, but the weather was nasty so switch to this weekend. It was a lot of fun even though I wish it would have been longer. We left Friday after Jason got off of work and made it up to Birch Creek by about 7:30-8:00. On Saturday after breakfast Jason had to go for a ride to prove that on his new bike he could go places that he couldn't Memorial Day Weekend. When he got back we went for a drive up to Gilmore and looked around the town for a while then went back to camp and hung out by the creek. The dogs played and me and Jason just relaxed. Jason decided to go for another ride that afternoon. Then we ate dinner and sat around the camp fire for a while. Sunday, Jason went for one last ride while, me and the dogs just enjoyed being outside, then it was time to pack up camp and head home. I really wish we could have stayed longer, but we're hoping to sneak in one last camping trip before I have to head to Utah to have this baby. Fingers crossed!

Jason and a view of Birch Creek

Playing in the creek

After I took this picture I looked up and Shanyce had gotten in a swift spot and was stranded. The water had pushed her down stream and she wasn't strong enough to fight back, luckily Jason was there to rescue in no time!

Oso made sure no one snuck up on Jason while he was taking his nap

Sitting around the campfire

While Jason was riding Shanyce decided to go for swim by HERSELF, last year we had to force her to even put her feet in.

Oso waiting for Jason to come back from riding. Both dogs did a lot of sulking whenever he would leave and would keep trying to leave to go find him.

Coming back from riding

Us right before we left (I'm 29 weeks in the picture)

The second day while Jason was riding Shanyce got in the water and got stuck on the tree branches. She started walking down stream which was easy but when she couldn't go down any further, the water was too swift and deep to come back. She tried to come back by walking on the branches but they were too slippery, after I realized she wasn't going to make it around the tree I had to go find and rescue her.
