CAMPING!

WARNING: LOTS OF PICTURES!
This last weekend Jason and I decided to go camping. We were going to go Father's Day weekend, but the weather was nasty so switch to this weekend. It was a lot of fun even though I wish it would have been longer. We left Friday after Jason got off of work and made it up to Birch Creek by about 7:30-8:00. On Saturday after breakfast Jason had to go for a ride to prove that on his new bike he could go places that he couldn't Memorial Day Weekend. When he got back we went for a drive up to Gilmore and looked around the town for a while then went back to camp and hung out by the creek. The dogs played and me and Jason just relaxed. Jason decided to go for another ride that afternoon. Then we ate dinner and sat around the camp fire for a while. Sunday, Jason went for one last ride while, me and the dogs just enjoyed being outside, then it was time to pack up camp and head home. I really wish we could have stayed longer, but we're hoping to sneak in one last camping trip before I have to head to Utah to have this baby. Fingers crossed!

After I took this picture I looked up and Shanyce had gotten in a swift spot and was stranded. The water had pushed her down stream and she wasn't strong enough to fight back, luckily Jason was there to rescue in no time!

Oso made sure no one snuck up on Jason while he was taking his nap

While Jason was riding Shanyce decided to go for swim by HERSELF, last year we had to force her to even put her feet in.

Oso waiting for Jason to come back from riding. Both dogs did a lot of sulking whenever he would leave and would keep trying to leave to go find him.

Us right before we left (I'm 29 weeks in the picture)

The second day while Jason was riding Shanyce got in the water and got stuck on the tree branches. She started walking down stream which was easy but when she couldn't go down any further, the water was too swift and deep to come back. She tried to come back by walking on the branches but they were too slippery, after I realized she wasn't going to make it around the tree I had to go find and rescue her.

Happy Father's Day!

I am late in posting this but better late than never!;) I had to post what Jason got for Father's Day, even though he got it like two weeks early, and completely picked it out himself, I still like to take some credit because it was supposedly from me.:) So Jason decided that he needed a new bike that had more power than his old one, so he picked out a KTM 200. It is a two stroke instead of a four and has way more power than his Honda. (Which by the way, he is putting up for sale here very soon, so if anyone wants a great starter bike for learning to ride let me know!) He of course didn't wait until Father's Day, and had already taken it out a couple of times before Father's Day was even here. The only thing that I don't like about his new bike is that I can't ride it. I really have been good about not riding while I've been pregnant, but this bike I don't even have the option. I can't reach the ground when I'm sitting on it, which make starting and stopping very difficult, but oh well it's not for me it's for him and it fits him perfectly.

I also wanted to tell Jason Happy Father's Day, and to let him know what a great dad I know he is going to be! I Love You, Jason! Happy Father's Day!

Fire Drill!

Well I guess I should be updating about what has been going on the last two days. Sorry about all of the posts being about the baby, but not much else is going on, and I'm kind of using this as a journal so I won't forget. So on Monday we had one an appointment with the perinatologist at EIRMC for just one of our, now routine, check-ups. It was a teleconference so he was not actually in IF, but we can talk through the TV to him. The tech starts scanning and Dr. Belfort tells her to talk a circumference of the baby's heart and one of his chest. He then tells us that the baby's heart is talking up 75% of his chest where when we went down to Primary's last it was only 50-55% (still bigger than normal but they are expecting that, due to his other heart problems.) So he asks us when we were suppose to go down again, and when we told him we had an appointment for next Wednesday he told us he wanted us to go down tomorrow. He called one of the cardiologist to let them know, and then also sent us down to the lab to have my blood drawn. (Oh yea while he was talking to the cardiologist while we were in the room he made it sound like we might be delivering when we went down there and was wanting to start me on steroid for the baby's lungs.)He said he saw some calcification deposits in the baby's bowl so he wanted to check for Cystic Fibrosis (We still don't have the results back yet.) So then yesterday we made another day trip down to Salt Lake to Primary's, and after much scanning the cardiologist came in to talk to us. He said that they are only seeing an increase to about 60%, (not 75%) and that as long as his heart is functioning "well" and his output is good that they aren't AS worried that his heart is a little bigger than it should be, but that they are going to continue to monitor him very closely. So in other words starting about the first of July I am going to be alternating weeks seeing Dr. Belfort one week and the cardiologist in Utah the next for basically the rest of my pregnancy unless there is some MAJOR improvements. It also means that we are going to be delivering at the University of Utah. They want us to come down at about 35-36 weeks to stay, then we will be seeing a perinatologist there which will be the doctor who actually delivers the baby. They said that she will probably induce me at 38-39 weeks. The whole reason why they want us deliver down there is that this is not something that any of them have ever seen before so they are not sure what is going to happen. There is still a chance that his extra vein will just go away on it's own after he is born and there will be no problems, but if it doesn't then he will have to have surgery. So instead of taking the chance that he would have to be life flighted they decided to just have us deliver down there. They also changed their minds and are now saying the the extra vein he has is comming into his left atrium, not right.
As we are walking out of the hospital Jason says "I'm really getting tired of these fire drills." Me too. I almost don't want to go back to Dr. Belfort. Almost every time we see him he scares us to death and immediately sends us to Utah. We know that it is something that they really don't know anything about so they are being extra cautious, which we do appreciate, but I don't think that either one of us can take much more of the "Fire drills". Anyways sorry this is so long and probably really boring to everyone, but like I said, it's more for me to remember what happen so too bad. ;)

Baby Update

Yesterday was our appointment down at Primary Children's Hospital. We had to get up at 5:30AM to make to the hospital by 9:30. It was a long drive, but at least they were pretty fast about bringing us back to have the echo done. The tech scanned for about an hour, took a gazillion pictures, then went and got one of the residents. He then scanned for about 20 minutes took More pictures, then he went and got the Cardiologist that was on for the day. She scanned for about 15-20 minutes, took MORE pictures then told me get ready and they would talk to us in another room. They took us to a room that had a nice comfy couch in it to talk to us. I was surprised about how fast they were coming in, they were just basically waiting for us and followed us right in the room. They told us that they didn't see any indications of DORV, which is what the perinatologist though it was. That is wonderful news, because what they are seeing he has isn't nearly as bad as that. What they are seeing is the he has Dextrocardia, or that his heart is tilted to the right side instead of the left. That in itself won't cause any problems, it's just not the way a "normal" heart sits. They also said that he has a third vein that is coming into the right side of his heart (normal is two) from the umbilical cord, and because of that the right side of his heart isn't pumping as well as the left side and there is a little fluid built up around his heart, and his tricuspid valve doesn't close as well as it should. But there is a chance that the extra vein could just correct itself, and if it does that the fluid and the sluggish pumping would just correct itself also. Which means he may not even have to have surgery, and we might be able to have him here. We have to go back down to PCMC in four weeks, and they will check him all out again and hopefully be able to tell us where we can have him at. All in all it was much better news then we were expecting, and thank you to all who fasted and had him and us in our prayers. We really appreciated it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Birch Creek

Every year for Memorial Day Weekend my family goes up to Birch Creek camping. This year we got to go up on Thursday, instead of Friday. My parents had gone up on Wednesday to get a spot for everyone. When we got up there Thursday afternoon it was just my parents, us, and my parent's friends Ron and Marsha. We had just a quiet evening after getting everything set up. We ate dinner, visited, and played some games before going to bed. Friday at about 12:00ish my two brother's that were coming up and their families made it. It was such a nice day, the kids (and dogs) played in the creek most of the day, and I just enjoyed the sunshine, while Jason took a nap. Then on Saturday my aunt, uncle, cousin, and her kids came up for the day. We did some more of the same stuff, visiting in the warm sunshine, and Jason, Brandon, Angie, Megan, and Dave (my brother, his wife, daughter, and her husband) went to see if they could make it to Pass Lake. They had a fun ride even though Jason is the only one who actually made it the whole way to the lake. Sunday we drove to Niclolia, an old mining town. We explored a little and ate lunch up there. My brother Jaden had to ride, standing up in the back of our truck on the way up and down because he hurt his back. They actually ended up leaving Sunday afternoon after we got back. Sunday was pretty cloudy and windy all day so when we got back we spent a lot of time visiting in trailers. There was actually a wreck about a mile down from where we were camped. A car rolled over into the camp ground, and they were using the jaws of life to extract the person(s) and even brought in the life flight helicopter. Then Monday morning Jason got up early to go for one last ride before we left. He took the camera to take some pictures of the view. Then we just ate breakfast and packed up camp. When we got home we unpacked some, started laundry, SHOWERED, and then went to Jason's parents house for a BBQ. We ate way too much and visited and then came home to finish laundry and give the dogs a much needed bath. All in all it was a very fun weekend, and I am worn out but it is time that I should go so I can finish laundry, unpacking, and cleaning out Jason's very dirty truck!

Sweet Baby James

So even though I am pretty sure that almost everyone who looks at this already knows what's going on, I still promised an update after we went to the perinatologist. Last Wednesday we went to EIRMC for our appointment with the "high risk baby doctor" for another ultrasound because on our first one they "couldn't find every on the heart" that they needed to. Our appointment was at 3:00 and by 4:00 they finally came into the waiting room to get us. The tech started the ultrasound and after checking a few other things and taking some more measurements, she finally starts looking at the heart. She spends a good amount of time looking at his heart from different angles, not saying much. After about a half an hour she says that the doctor is going to come in now. So she goes and gets the doctor and the medical student he has with him. Then the doctor starts looking at his heart, and is pointing out to the student different things on the ultrasound. Then he finally starts talking to us, and explaining in "laman" terms what he is seeing. What he thinks it is, is called Double outlet right ventricle. It means that our baby's heart has both the aorta and pulmonary artery coming out of his right ventricle. (The pulmonary should be coming out of the right ventricle and the aorta should be coming off the left ventricle). He also has a VSD or a hole in between the two sides of his heart, which is actually a blessing in his case. But now we have to wait again until the 27th when we go down to Primary Children's Hospital to meet with the pediatric cardiologist to have an echo cardiogram done and see where we go from there, but we will have to deliver him down at PCH, so he can have his surgery done, and we get to see a lot of doctors this summer. But it is all for the good of our Sweet Baby James so we are just waiting to see what all we need to do. Until the next appointment.

Mother's Day!

So this is a little late but we have had sort of a stressful week so I think I'm allowed, but more on that later. The Saturday before mother's day we headed for Utah. We left at like 9:30, 10:00 in the morning because we had been looking at some used camping trailer's online that were for sell in Utah. We decided that the first one we would see in person was the one that was the furthest away, so on to Orem we went. We called the owner when we were an hour away to make sure that they were and would be home. They said they would and we got to their house at 2:30. We looked at the trailer and decided that we did like it in person as well and ended up buying it on the spot. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that the trailer is my Mother's Day present, don't I have the bestest husband ever! Thanks Jason! So after waiting for them to clean it out and having to buy a bigger ball for out hitch we were back on the road again by 3:30/4:00. Then it was a SLOW drive to Bear Lake where we were staying the night with Jason's family at the time share. We finally got there at about 7:00. For those of you who don't want to do the math that it almost NINE hours in a car. Pregnant. Needless to say I was pretty sore by the time we got there, and ended up taking a bath so that I could walk. But other than that we had lots of fun and enjoyed being with family. Sunday morning we got up and went down to the lake, then we went back to the time share and Jason and his dad played some tennis. We ended up leaving at about 12:30 and began the SLOW drive home. Our new/old trailer does handle pretty well but we can only go about 60mph, so on the interstate it feels really slow, especially when you no longer want to be in a car because you hurt and were in a car for about nine hours the day before. We got to our house about 4:30. Then my brother, sister-in-law, and their kids, and my parents came to our house so that we could give my mom her mother's day gift. We visited for a while then everyone left and we just hung out at our house for the rest of the evening. All in all I think it was a good mother's day weekend.

Here is "Little Blue". That's what Jason has named our trailer.
